pyGplate License details

Hello,

We are currently using pyGplate Python libraries for code developed based on Butterworth paper published on sub-duction.

https://www.earthbyte.org/earthbyte-group-develops-machine-learning-recipe-to-find-copper-gold-deposits-along-the-andes/

Before we can do more work on this, I was asked to get license details about these libraries.

I can see, GPlates desktop software is published using GNU General Public License version 2.
What license is being used for python library of GPlates? Is it same as Desktop software?

Thanks a lot for providing valuable information and support for GPlates.

Hi Girish,

Yes, pyGPlates uses the same license as GPlates (which is GPL v2).

However we are currently looking into transitioning to the more permissive LGPL (Lesser GPL) in a future GPlates/pyGPlates release if it’s feasible.

Regards,
John

Thanks John for quick response.
