There should be a way to add new plate IDs to a project’s rotations file as you are creating features. In addition to this, a way to switch a plate’s parent ID at a given time (eg. “300 moves relative to 100, then detaches and begins to move relative to 400 at 500mya”) This would greatly improve the workflow of people using GPlates “time forwards” (ie. not reconstructing backwards from existing geophysical data).
